Pet-Friendly Parks & Trails in El Paso

Another great pet-friendly activity in El Paso is exploring the many parks and trails the city offers. From leash-free dog parks to hiking trails, there are plenty of ways to get some fresh air with your pet.

Franklin Mountains State Park

The El Paso Tin Mines Trail is considered an easy hike for humans and pets. The 6.60 miles (out & back) trail will generally take a little over three hours to complete depending on your pet’s enthusiasm, and it is open year-round. Dogs may be off-leash in marked areas.

Billy Rogers Arroyo Park

Located in one of El Paso’s affluent neighborhoods, Arroyo Park is generally a flat 1.6-mile loop with some brush and rocky areas. Your dog may occasionally spot (or sniff out) a jackrabbit. Dogs must be leashed.

Pavo Real Enhanced Spray Park

Ready to let your dog run free? Pavo Real Enhanced Spray Park is fenced with a water feature. Dogs four months and older are allowed in the dog section of the spray park, as long as they are vaccinated, wearing dog tags, and remain under your supervision.

Only ten small dogs or seven large dogs are allowed in the Spray Park at a time. The Park is open from mid-April through the end of October. However, Pavo Real Enhanced Spray Park does have specific hours for small and large dogs, so check the schedule online.

If you’re looking for a place to eat with your pet, El Paso has plenty of pet-friendly bars & restaurants. So whether you’re in the mood for Mexican food or just an iced cold drink, you’ll be able to find a spot that will accommodate both you and your pet.

The Happy Monk

If you enjoy draught beer and American food, then head to The Hoppy Monk, where the patio is available for patrons with pets. While you’re there, try the cauliflower wings and green chili burger. The independently owned restaurant is open Wednesday – Sunday.

Taconeta

Craving a quick bite with your dog by your side? Try Taconeta, where patrons buzz about the sweet potato and fish tacos. Then, kick back and enjoy a watermelon mezcal margarita. The outdoor patio offers pet-friendly seating.

La Perla

Want to share rooftop views with your pet? Head to The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park to take advantage of El Paso’s crown jewel, La Perla. Each Sunday, The Plaza also invites you to attend Sunday Pawtio Social at La Perla.  Your four-legged friend will enjoy two dog treats from our incredible Pastry Chef Jakki, and pet owners (ages 21 and up) will receive a mimosa. In addition, La Perla’s bar will be open for the purchase of additional cocktails and Pup Cakes ($5). Chef Lawrence will also be hosting a taco station (3 tacos for $20). Along with homemade treats, there’s also the opportunity to support the Humane Society of El Paso. See here for more details
