Published by Carl Hertzog in 1962, Forty Years at El Paso, 1858–1898, chronicles W.W. Mills’ life in the early days of El Paso, when the city was still a small adobe settlement. Arriving in 1858, Mills recounts daily life, the people he encountered, and the pivotal moments that shaped the region. Tom Lea’s illustrations vividly bring these stories to life, offering an intimate glimpse into El Paso’s frontier past.
